As temperatures grow colder and Halloween approaches, it’s the perfect time to set up a movie marathon at home! Kick back, relax, and enjoy your favorite flicks with these budtender-recommended strains.

I asked all of the budtenders at our Salem shop for their top strain picks for movie night, and here were some of the responses:

Strain: Jack Herer (Sativa)
Why: Happy, giddy.

Strain: Strawberry Cough (Sativa)
Why: Euphoric, awake, focused.
“It makes me feel awake and focused, but not overanalyzing or anxious.” – Chris B, Salem Store Manager

Strain: Blue Dream (Sativa)
Why: Nice euphoric effects, fun.

Strain: GG4 (Hybrid)
Why: Relaxing but not sleepy–a fantastic hybrid!

Strain: MAC (Hybrid)
Why: It’s hard to pinpoint…

Strain: Lemon Kush (Hybrid)
Why: Relaxed, giddy, happy, creative.
“The kush relaxes me and the lemon makes me feel giddy, happy, and creative, which helps me enjoy the movie more. But if I’m watching a horror movie, I’d want to smoke some Blueberry Muffins to calm my anxiety and stress.” – Cora E, Inventory Specialist/Budtender

Strain: Sunset Sherbet (Hybrid)
Why: Chill, happy.
“Sunset Sherbet is an awesome tasty hybrid! It’s great for whenever because it doesn’t make me too sleepy or anxious.” – Brigitt H, Budtender

Strain: OG Kush (Indica)
Why: Relaxing, nice body high.

As you can see, responses were extremely varied! Most of our budtenders chose sativa-dominant strains, being skeptical of their ability to stay awake for the duration of a film after smoking a heavy indica strain. Nearly all of our budtenders said they wanted something “relaxing” for movie night, and the words “euphoric” and “giddy” were used by several people as well.
