What is Green Wednesday?
Green Wednesday is the day before Thanksgiving. This year it's Wednesday, November 25.
Over the past few years it's become one of the busiest cannabis shopping days of the year. Industry sales data from Dutchie and Headset has ranked it second only to April 20, ahead of Black Friday. The reason is simple: a lot of adults have Thursday off, some have the whole weekend, and most people would rather shop on Wednesday than on Thanksgiving itself.
That means busier stores and longer lines, at Diem and pretty much everywhere else. A little planning goes a long way.
How to shop Green Wednesday without the wait
Order ahead for pickup
The easiest way to skip the line. Browse the Diem Worcester menu or the Diem Lynn menu, place your order, and pick it up in store. Orders are usually ready within 10–15 minutes on a normal day. On a day like Green Wednesday, give yourself a little extra time.
We're in-store pickup only, so plan to swing by in person with your ID.
Shop early in the day
Both stores open at 9am. If your schedule allows, a morning or early-afternoon visit is usually calmer than the after-work rush. Even better, don't wait until Wednesday. If you already know what you want, the Monday or Tuesday before works just as well.

Before you shop
- Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. You need to be 21 or older. Out-of-state visitors are welcome.
- Payment: debit, cash, or DutchiePay. Worcester has two on-site ATMs and Lynn has one.
- Know the limit. As of April 2026, Massachusetts allows adults 21+ to buy up to two ounces of flower, or its equivalent: 10 grams of active THC in concentrate or 1,000 mg of THC in edibles. If you're mixing categories, our budtenders can help you work out what fits.
- Have a short list ready. Know what you're after before you get to the counter and you'll be in and out faster.

Know the rules
A long holiday weekend means a lot of people on the road. A few Massachusetts rules worth keeping in mind:
- Never drive high. Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. If you're consuming, don't drive.
- Keep it sealed in the car. Cannabis in a vehicle should stay in its original sealed packaging or in the trunk. No open containers in the passenger area.
- It stays in Massachusetts. Taking cannabis across state lines is illegal, even to another legal state. If you're traveling out of state for the holiday, it stays home.
- Private residences only. No consumption in public places, and respect the rules of whoever's home you're in.
- 21+ only. Cannabis is for adults 21 and older. Never share with anyone under 21.
